Top 5 Tips For Effective Email Marketing

Over the past few years, research has continued to prove the benefits of e-mail marketing for business: low costs, high conversion rates and detailed tracking are all notable features. But e-mail marketing is becoming much more than just a tool for spammers and e-businesses. Consumers are becoming increasingly savvy on the differences between spam and permission-based emails, and more and more of them are accepting permission-based e-mail marketing as a positive replacement for direct mail.

The best news is that the majority of people who receive permission-based e-mails open, on average, 78% of them.

Jupiter Research reports effective email marketing campaigns can produce nine times the revenues and 18 times the profits of broadcast mailings. But crafting an effective business email is both an art and a science. Here is a list of factors, potential problems and effective solutions to keep in mind:

1. Spam! Spam! Spam! I don't need any Viagra!
The average consumer receives more than 300 emails a week, 62% of which are spam. No wonder there's such hostility towards the industry. But spam filters, bulk folders and "report spam" features are helping consumers become more at ease about the perils of spam. While 89% of users cited spam as a major concern in 2003, that number dropped to 85% in 2004, proportionally to an increase in the use of spam-fighting tools.

So as a permission-based business email marketer, what can you do? One tip is to remind your subscribers to add you to their "safe senders" list. The second, and most important, tactic is to make sure your email marketing service provider has a good relationship with ISPs. This will ensure that your email marketing campaigns go into your subscribers' inboxes, not their junk mail folders. When choosing an email marketing software, make sure the company has strict anti-spam policies and complies with the guidelines of Can-Spam.

2. Images and formatting: Why do my emails look broken?
Broken email campaigns are an increasing concern among email marketers, especially since several companies and web-based email providers now block graphics as a measure to combat spam. In fact, according to ClickZ, 40% of email marketing messages delivered to inboxes are "broken."

So what's the solution? Some email marketing programs publish all your sent email campaigns to a secure location on the web (a location only original recipients of the email can access, thanks to encrypted technology that automatically authenticates the user). In some programs, the technology also ensures you can track your users' behaviors, even if they are reading your email campaign at the secure web location.

3. Personalization and relevant content: In a business e-mail, one size does not fit all.
In a recent study by DoubleClick, email users were 72% more likely to respond to a business e-mail if its content was based on the interests they had specified. That number points out the absolute importance of allowing users to choose their own interest groups and have control over which business e-mails they receive. The most popular interest categories, according to the study, are coupons and household goods.

But you're coupon is no good unless the user opens the email. Users in the study said the most compelling reason for them to open a business email is the name in the "from" field. So it's a good idea to make sure your company name is clearly stated there. Another major factor is the "subject" line. Users cite discount offers and interesting news as the most compelling subject lines, followed by new product announcements and free shipping offers.

4. Click-through and conversion: Show me the money!
So the user has opened your email and read the content. Great. But where's the sale? There's good news here. For one, consumers are increasingly likely to make purchases as a direct result of a business email campaign. One-third of users in the DoubleClick study had purchased something by clicking a link on an email. Another 42% clicked on an email link for more information, then purchased the product at a later time. Second, online couponing is booming: 73% of consumers have redeemed an online coupon for an online purchase, and 59% have redeemed an online coupon offline.

In terms of industries, the top performers are travel, hardware/software, electronics, apparel, food, home furnishings, gifts/flowers and sporting goods. All companies sending business emails in those categories said between 71% and 80% of recipients have purchased their products because of an email campaign.

There's no need to fret if your company doesn't fit in to one of those industries. The overall landscape for email marketing conversions is looking brighter every day. The average click-to-purchase rate has increased nearly 30% since 2004 and the average orders-per-email-delivered rate has increased more than 18% since last year.

5. Stats tracking: Who are my real consumers?
E-mail marketing is an increasingly popular tool in effective CRM, and it's about time more businesses recognize that. First off, if your provider's email services for business do not include detailed, real-time tracking, you're getting a raw deal. Real-time tracking is now an industry standard, and it's highly valuable, as it allows you to see the exact moment a user opens your campaign, clicks on your link and makes that purchase. Studying your users can help you improve your communications efforts, so each campaign performs better than the last (several email service providers also let you compare the performance of your campaigns).

But many marketers are still in the dark. According to a recent WebTrends research, only 5% of marketers are very confident in the measurement of their online marketing efforts, while 26% admit they're "flying blind." WebTrends says the low confidence comes from a lack of knowledge when it comes to measurement, which means there's still a lot of work to be done.

In email marketing, a blind shot won't take you very far. But if you aim properly by following these essential rules of play, you should soon be reaping the same major results as so many online and offline businesses.

7 Small Business Marketing Tips

Here are 7 low-cost but highly effective marketing tips to help any small business find customers and generate sales quickly.

1. Don't Advertise Like a Big Business

Big businesses advertise to create name recognition and future sales. A small business can't afford to do that. Instead, design your advertising to produce sales ...now. One way to accomplish this is to always include an offer in your advertising - and an easy way for prospective customers to respond to it.

2. Offer a Cheaper Version

Some prospective customers are not willing to pay the asking price for your product or service. Others are more interested in paying a low price than in getting the best quality. You can avoid losing sales to many of these customers by offering a smaller or stripped down version of your product or service at a lower price.

3. Offer a Premium Version

Not all customers are looking for a cheap price. Many are willing to pay a higher price to get a premium product or service. You can boost your average size sale and your total revenue by offering a more comprehensive product or service ...or by combining several products or services in a special premium package offer for a higher price.

4. Try Some Unusual Marketing Methods

Look for some unconventional marketing methods your competitors are overlooking. You may discover some highly profitable ways to generate sales and avoid competition. For example, print your best small ad on a postcard and mail it to prospects in your targeted market. A small ad on a postcard can drive a high volume of traffic to your website or generate a flood of sales leads for a very small cost.

5. Trim Your Ads

Reduce the size of your ads so you can run more ads for the same cost. You may even be surprised to find that some of your short ads generate a better response than their longer versions.

6. Set up Joint Promotions with Other Small Businesses

Contact some non-competing small businesses serving customers in your market. Offer to publicize their products or services to your customers in exchange for their publicizing your services to their customers. This usually produces a large number of sales for a very low cost.

7. Take Advantage of Your Customers

Your customers already know and trust you. It's easier to get more business from them than to get any business from somebody who never bought from you. Take advantage of this by creating some special deals just for your existing customers ...and announce new products and services to them before you announce them to the general market.

Also, convert your customers into publicity agents for your business. Develop an incentive for them to tell associates and friends about the value of your products or services. An endorsement from them is more effective than any amount of advertising - and it is much cheaper.

Each of these 7 marketing tips provides a simple, low-cost way for any small business to find customers and generate sales quickly.

7 Reasons Why You Need A Website

Currently there are around 60 million domain names registered globally. Industry experts are predicting that in the next ten years, more than 500 MILLION web sites will be active annually. Any single area that experiences that level of growth should cause you to sit up and take note.

Imagine owning an automated online business that earns you money 24 hours a day - 7 days a week, without you even lifting a finger. Set it up once, feed it occasionally and watch in amazement as it grows. If you had a chance to stand in front of 10 million people with something to sell, would it be worthed? I think so. How do you stand in front of 10 million people?

If you have a shop in your local center you may get exposure to 100 - 200 people per day. If you are in a a major center this number could be higher, but you will have trouble exeeding 1000 visitors a day, would you agree?

with a web presence you can reach astounding number of people, and it can be anytime, day or night.

So that is reason 1, and it is a big one!

Now I am happy to stop there, the argument is clear for me, but lets continue with some other reasons.

If you don't have a website, then you might not realise all the great things they can do for you. Maybe you think there wouldn'b be any point, because your business is too small - or you don't even have a business! Perhaps you think it'd be a lot of work for little reward. Or maybe you paid big buck's for a site back during the dot-com 'boom' days, only to get nothing but trouble out of it and shut it down a year later. Whatever your situation is, though, you need a website, and i'm here to tell you why.

2. People Will Look for You Online.

Sooner or later, someone's going to type your name into a search engine. What do you want them to find? Nothing? These are people who want to find you, and if you don't have a website then you're letting them down – they expect you to be online. For many people, you might as well not exist if you can't be found with a search engine. Not having a website is like not bothering to get listed in the phone book. Whether it's customers or old school friends you're hoping for, very few people are going to find you if you aren't online.

3. Websites Cost Next to Nothing.

Once, it cost a lot to run a website – but those days are long gone. There are 'pay as you go' services out there now charging as little as $1 per gigabyte of bandwidth. If you're sensible about the size of your pages, that dollar could last you a whole month, or even longer! If you don't want to pay for design, it's never been simpler to do it yourself, or find FRE*E software to do it for you. Really, it's never been cheaper to have a website than it is today.

4. Websites are Great Advertising.

Whatever you're advertising – your services, your products, or just yourself – a website is a great way to do it. Every other kind of advertising going costs a premium, especially if you want to target a specific kind of person, and there's no guarante*e that they're paying attention. Websites are like brochures that are FRE*E to reproduce, interactive, and quickly distributed to people who are already looking for them. No advertising medium even comes close to the ease-of-use and effectiveness of a website.

5. A Website is a Worldwide Presence.

On the web, it doesn't matter whether someone is next door to you or on the other side of the world – they can see your website just the same as anyone else can, at no extra cost to you or to them. Phone and post both cost enormous amounts long-distance, but a website lets you send information anywhere without any extra effort or expense. You can make friends and contacts in places you've never been and will never go – suddenly, working globally is no more effort than working locally.

6. Your Website Can Make You Money.

There's a lot of money on the web, and it's not hard to get some – the longer you're online for, the bigger your share can get. If you have something to sell, you can sell it worldwide, thanks to credit cards. Doing business online eliminates almost every overhead there is: all you need to do is have the goods. If you've written something useful, you can put it out there with a few ads. You won't get rich overnight, but you can set up a steady trickle of income... and there's no limit to the number of trickles you can set up.

7. Your Website Can Save You Time.

Giving out information takes time, whether it's on the phone, or in brochures, or even if it's just emailing your family. Websites are designed to save you time. All your family and friends can read your online diary (known as a weblog), but you only had to write it once. Customers can see your whole product catalogue without ever needing to talk to you or visit you. This is the power of the web: things on it are written only once, but can be downloaded endlessly – a good website runs itself, and keeps being useful to people for much longer than you'd expect.

Laughter Is The Best Medicine

Author: Stewart Levison

Researchers show that if we can laugh for fifteen minutes each day that it helps our blood flow, which in turn helps our heart. I have heard this saying all off my life, and I am sure you have too, "laughter is the best medicine". Well, I guess it really is. Can you imagine going to the doctor's office and instead of a prescription you get a list of comedy videos or a couple of names of good joke books? Wouldn't that seem strange? Studies and researchers have discovered that laughter affects the body in many, many, good ways and we don't even realize it.

Have you ever thought that your blood pressure can be lowered, laughter reduces stress, and laughter even helps your immune system? Why do more people not use this very pleasant pain free "drug"? I think this will be my drug of choice from now on. We just need to get more people turned on to it. Would you agree? Don't think you can replace eating right and daily exercise with laughing for fifteen minutes a day. You still need to continue this, but next time it is raining or cold out-side and you can't get in you day of physical activity, just go to your local video rental store, or turn on the comedy channel on your TV and have yourself a really good belly laugh. The endothelium, the inner lining of a blood vessel has a great effect when it comes to regulating blood flow. The purpose of the endothelium is to regulate the thickening of the blood and secrete certain chemicals in response to wounds, infection, cuts, or irritations.

The endothelium is the first place doctors look when evaluating a condition of the hardening of the arteries. As a result of this study, could it be possible to tie laughter to the healthy functioning of the endothelium, and therefore to healthier blood vessels? Many members of the medical field are admitting that it is a distinct possibility. Laughter offsets the impact of mental stress which is harmful to the endothelium. A group of men and women, equally divided with an average age of 33 participated in a study to try and prove or disprove this theory. They were all non-smokers with relatively few other medical conditions, and had received average results for blood pressure checks, cholesterol checks, and glucose levels. The subjects were asked to watch two movies: one that produced laughter, and one that produced mental stress. The movies were shown 48 hours apart, and the subjects were monitored for blood flow changes such as blood pressure, blood flow levels, and vessel relaxation. What happened? The subjects' bodies behaved as though they had partaken in physical activity, without the usual pain of exercise. As you can see, researchers have gone to great lengths to check this out.

The results of the studies point to the laughter/health connection. Once again we can see where laughter plays a very important role in our health and happiness. Like I said earlier, laughing does not take the place of exercise but can be used as an exercise. Suppose you had a day when it was thundering, lightning and raining cats and dogs. It would be tempting to curl up on the sofa with a book or watch TV. Well that might not be so bad if you got the right book or the right TV program. You will need to spend a little time and find something that will be funny. It will be best if it can give you a large amount of belly laughs. If it is not raining today and you have the time, go ahead and plan for your rainy day by getting your movie and book ready.

Who knows you may even want to use them when you return from your walk. Another little hint: if you have family or friends include them in your laughter exercise. It certainly won't hurt anybody and could possibly turn into a regular habit. We all know that physical exercise is a must if you are to enjoy good health. We also know that some of us do not particularly like exercise everyday. That's where laughter comes in as a big helper. Whether we have to exercise, by that I mean walk, jog, ride a bike or lift weights, we can make the time pass quicker with laughter included. Don't you feel better when you are down and out and can watch a good comedy show or a good funny movie, I know I always do. Try it you might like it.

Of Love and Hate

I see no feeling in your eyes
The only thing there
Is the black colored things
That portray your hurt and hate

Your eyes penetrate deep into me
I can feel the storm in your soul
The great conflict
Of Love and Hate

You steal my breath away
With your deepened gaze

I can feel the storm begin to roll
The thunder of our souls
Crash against our hurt hearts

Your gaze stuns every movement of mine
I can't move or walk away from you now
You've stolen my mind
Now I'm stuck in your hateful eyes

I can see my fear reflected
Through the mirror of your glassy eyes

I still see no feeling in your eyes
The only thing still there
Is the black colored things
That portray your hurt and hate

Your eyes penetrate deep into me
I can feel the storm in your soul
The great conflict
Of Love and Hate

Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regret.
So love the people who treat you right

If it changes your life, Let It !
Nobody said that It would be easy.

Secrets of Effective Affirmation

It has made many miracles happen in the history of human evolution.
However, the majority of people who use affirmation find that it doesn’t work.

Why is this the case?
What are the elements that people have missed when they use affirmation techniques?
I constantly ask myself these questions, and seek for the answers.
The result is, no one book gives the complete answer. Some tips given in one book work for a specific situation, but not for others. Other books give other tips that work for other situations, but not for this.

I have tested and filtered out the ineffective ones, and left only what I call the ultimate effective technique secrets. The purpose of affirmation:

Before I give you the effective techniques, I must make you understand the true purpose of affirmation. Simply stated, the purpose of affirmation is to pass a command from the conscious mind to the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind has the ability, in anything it accepts as true, to do whatever it takes to turn it into reality. The purpose of an affirmation is to pass a message to the subconscious mind, and to make it believe the message is true. So this brings us to the first element of an effective affirmation.

1. The affirmation must be believable to the subconscious mindMost of the affirmations people use, fail at this first stage. They tend to give an unrealistic message to the subconscious mind, hoping for a positive response. If you are financially broke, and you say to yourself “I earn $100,000 per year”, is this believable to your mind ? If your body is totally out of shape, and you say to yourself “I am very attractive”, is this believable to your mind ? I doubt it. What if you are currently broke, and you want to make $100,000 per year ? What if you are out of shape, and you want to make yourself attractive ? I find the best and easiest way is to use the word “I choose” in your affirmation. Instead of saying “I earn $100,000 per year.” Say “I choose to earn $100,000 per year” Instead of saying “I am very attractive” Say “I choose to feel that people find me attractive” Do you feel the difference ?

2. The subconscious mind seeks for proofThere is a misconception that the affirmation must be repeated thousands of times before it can be installed in the subconscious mind. This is not necessarily true. You can use the repetition method to embed your affirmation, but there is an easier way. It is, at the time you find the proof, state your affirmation. Many people stay in poverty because they associate pain with money. Whenever they spend their money, they think of their bills, loans etc. This will automatically lead to ultimate pain. It is the feeling you attach to money that makes you rich or poor. How can we turn this to our advantage ? Instead of feeling pain when spending money, what if we associate pleasure with it ? Next time when you go out shopping, at the moment you take out your money or credit card, say this affirmation to yourself “I always have more than enough to spend.” See how you feel. This works because the subconscious mind sees the proof. As long as you have some money left in your pocket, this affirmation is always true, so the subconscious mind will believe it. How about if we combine the first and second methods together and make an affirmation like this: “I choose to feel that I always have more than enough to spend.” Say this at the time you spend your money. See how you feel. You don’t have to repeat it thousands of times, a few times of real life proof will make your subconscious mind believe it.

3. The affirmation must trigger feelingsA fact about the subconscious mind is that it does not speak in words, you can only communicate with it through feelings, and emotions. There are two methods that you can use to trigger your feelings. The first method is to use words that involve feelings. Words like “fun, enjoyable, comfortable, delightful” will work effectively. The second method is to use imagination. Visualize that the situation stated in your affirmation has already come true. See yourself in that situation and feel the feelings.

4. The affirmation must obey the 3 Ps factor. The 3 Ps are Positive, Present Tense, and Personal. Affirmations must be stated positively. Instead of saying “I am not fat”, say “I choose to stay slim”. The reason for this is that before the mind knows the meaning of, “I am not fat”, it must think of what fat means first. So saying that statement will inevitably lead to the feeling of being fat. Affirmations must be in the present tense. Many books mention this. However, I only agree to some extent. If you say “I have a luxury car”, your mind will not believe you. The reason I include this here is that once it is combined with the first technique, it will work perfectly. Now say “I choose to have a luxury car”. Your mind will do its best to bring it into reality. Affirmations must be personal. Your subconscious mind only works for you, not for others. If you say “Ann loves me”, it will not be effective, because you have no control over Ann. Now say “I choose to feel that Ann really loves me”. This time you are in control, because you can control your own feelings.

5. Personal development affirmations should be stated in the comparative“I am confident” may not be as effective as “I am becoming more and more confident”. An even better affirmation might be “I choose to feel more and more confident”. The reason for using the comparative, is because there is no end to how much more confident you can become. Otherwise, your mind may think you are already confident enough, and it will not need to do any more work. These 5 techniques are the most effective ones that I have found from my research on affirmations. If you can use all the 5 techniques, I guarantee your results will be amazing. Even if you only use one or two of the techniques stated here, you will find your affirmations will become far more effective.
